I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that the upcoming eighth season of Psych could be its last. It’s just so good. I feel like it could definitely go on much longer.
TVLine is now reporting that Mira Sorvino has joined the cast of Psych for a multiple episode arc. She’ll be playing the new head detective, likely filling the void left behind as series regular Maggie Lawson stars in her new sitcom Back in the Game at the same time.
Psych airs on USA Network.
Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino is joining the cast of Psych for a multi-episode arc, TVLine has learned.
Sorvino will play the Santa Barbara Police Department’s newest head detective, Betsy Brannigan — an incredibly sweet, adorably reserved and yet certified badass. Brannigan’s record for taking down ruthless criminals is rivaled only by her skills in sparkly craft making, and her seemingly bubbly demeanor can turn on a dime once she straps in the dual-wielded Colt .45s. She’s a scrapbooking, cat loving, crime-fighting machine.
She’ll first appear in the seventh episode of the show’s upcoming eighth and likely final season.
Her casting comes as Psych leading lady is preparing to juggle both the USA comedy and her new ABC sitcom Back in the Game. As a result of her new gig, Lawson is slated to appear in only a handful of Psych episodes. Sorvino is likely being brought in to fill some of that void.
