Stranger Things: The Experience has turned New York upside down and fans of the show couldn’t be happier. This immersive experience takes fans of the hit Netflix series and brings them closer than ever before through the familiar world of Stranger Things.
Brought together by Fever and Netflix, Strange Things: The Experience brings fans on a journey back to the 80s. Visitors to the experience will feel as if they have stepped inside Hawkins, Indiana, Hawkins Lab, and the Upside Down itself, where things are never exactly as they seem.
This experience was one of the more extraordinary things that we have done and we can’t stop talking about it to anyone who will listen. We want to thank Netflix and Fever for inviting us and taking such good care of us in our trip back to the 80s!
Read on for our review of Stranger Things: The Experience:
Located in Brooklyn, New York inside The Duggal Greenhouse, Stranger Things: The Experience seems larger than life as soon as you pull up to the massive warehouse that is currently containing all you are about to enjoy.
Not What They Seem
As soon as guests step inside, they feel as if they are in Hawkins, Indiana. Your visit today is disguised as a “sleep study” within Hawkins Lab. Very dedicated character actors will be observing those among you who may be more than they appear to be.
It was here that I was most impressed by the actors in lab coats, interviewing participants, and being hilariously creepy in the process. Fans of the show will also recognize everyone’s favorite politician in Hawkins in this cute easter egg I was obsessing over.
Heart Pounding Adventure
What follows is half escape room and half theme park ride, where guests have to help familiar characters stay safe as it quickly becomes clear that shit is about to get real. We don’t want to delve too deep into spoilers but get ready for a hands-on experience that will sure to get your heart racing!
Travel Back In Time
Once you make it to safety, you can relax with a snack, a drink, and plenty of cool 80s vibes and merch in The Mix-Tape. Here you step right back in time into a mall of the 80s, complete with roller rink, arcade, and video store. Visitors can also visit and check out familiar sets like Will’s living room and Scoops Ahoy and they are the perfect location for fun photo ops. You might even find yourselves face to face with the Demogorgon.
Don’t forget to ask about participating in a fun scavenger hunt/Stranger Things trivia experience! Guests who complete this fun little challenge get a surprise at the end!
The actors of Stranger Things: The Experience truly deserve so much recognition. Whether it be in the lab or the 80s Mall area, they were totally dedicated and committed to their roles and you can tell they are living for it. It was so much fun interacting and joking around with them whenever our “weird calculators” (smart phones) would come out and they all wondered how we would develop the pictures.
Among the best interactions included Hawkins Lab doctors, suspicious reporters, and 80s mall teens staples decked out in denim and all the neon colors of the rainbow.
Be sure to dress the part! Time traveling back to the 80s was all part of the fun!
We are so grateful that we got to attend the media preview for Stranger Things: The Experience and honestly, we cannot wait to go again. It was the perfect day out and made us feel like kids again and got us completely amped for the new season of Stranger Things. If the hints from the experience are anything to go by, season 4 is going to be epic.
