Interview: Ashley Gerasimovich Talks ‘The Detour’ – Exclusive

Ashley Gerasimovich can currently be seen starring as Delilah in the comedy series The Detour. The hit comedy show from Jason Jones and Samantha Bee is currently airing its 4th season on the network. We spoke with Ashley about viewers can expect from the new season and the upcoming episodes.

What motivated you to initially pursue acting as your career? Was there anyone who influenced or inspired you?

Well, I actually started as a baby. My mom sent pictures of my older sister to a talent agency, which opened the door for me and my younger sister. We all started modeling and it grew from there. When I did my first movie I was 5-years-old, and I had so much fun I couldn’t wait to do more!

Everyone I’ve worked with has inspired me somehow! I’ve learned so much from everyone! But I think Jason Jones and Natalie Zea (Nate and Robin on The Detour) have been the most influential. Working with both of them has been amazing!

Can you tell us about your character Delilah on The Detour and what viewers can expect from her as a character?

Delilah has always been headstrong and cynical. She likes to think she is the only “normal” one in her family, but in reality, she is just as kooky as everyone else. She is tough, sarcastic and protective of her brother, and I absolutely love her!

Would you say you are similar to your character at all? Did you have to do anything special to prepare for the role?

I am similar to Delilah because we both have a similar sense of humor. We are both blunt and sarcastic, and that’s what is so fun about playing her! As far as preparing for a scene, I usually consult with my acting coach and that helps me get right into character.

You have appeared in many different projects and genres over the years. What do you enjoy most about getting to perform in a comedic setting?

I love how fun everyone is on set! The atmosphere is so light-hearted and we laugh all the time. The crew and cast are so great, I have a blast with them. It’s so fun making new friends!

The Detour is set to return for a fourth season on June 18th. What can you tease about what viewers can expect from the new episodes in season 4?

Hmmm, we know that Delilah runs away at the end of season 3, and season 4 focuses on The Parker’s searching for Delilah, and what she has been up to while she was gone. The Parkers search all over the world looking for Delilah!

More specifically, what can you share about what Delilah is up to in the new season?

Ha ha, spoilers! I’d love to share what Delilah’s been up to, but that’s for me to know and for you to find out by watching season 4. I can tell you Delilah had some pretty wild adventures while on her own!

How has it been working alongside the cast and crew?

I just love the cast and crew! Every season we film in a new location, so lots of our crew are different people, and that makes it so interesting, but I do miss the old crew too! I consider Jason, Natalie and Liam a second family. We have been working together for 4 years, they are the best!

What else are you working on? What can fans look forward to from you next?

I’m taking some time to just be a teenager and am going on vacation with my family this summer, which will be really fun. Hopefully you will see me in season 5 of The Detour! I’m also excited to see what new opportunities come my way.
