Pop City Life recently spoke with actor Sean Ryan Fox about his role in Nickelodeon’s Henry Danger, his experience starring alongside Joey Lawrence and Christy Carlson Romano in Christmas All Over Again, and what his fans can expect from his new music.
Read on for our exclusive interview with Sean Ryan Fox below:
What inspired you to get into acting? Was there anyone who influenced you?
Sean Ryan Fox: My sister Camryn started acting when I was 8 years old and I would go with her on auditions and watch her. I thought that it would be fun to do, so my mom got me an agent and it all started from there. My mom was the one who told me me to follow my dreams and she believed in me to help me do it.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the cast. It’s a great working environment and my second family, plus I get to work with such amazing crew. They are truly the best.
Is there anything you’d love to tackle that you haven’t yet? Anyone you would love to work with someday, if you could pick anyone?
One thing I would love to do is work in an action movie – anything with stunts involved would be great. It would definitely be Robert Downey Jr. He is one of my favorite actors of all time.
Can you talk a little about your role on Henry Danger and what originally attracted you to it?
First, it was about superheroes and I loved them as a kid, as well as [the show] being a comedy. Second, Jasper is the comic relief of the show, so I get to have fun and do crazy stuff. And last, I would get to work with Dan Schneider!
You’re currently recording for your debut EP. What can we expect from your new music?
Original, catchy, hip-hop songs that people can dance and sing to. I am striving to be a different and creative artist that my fans can relate to.
What are some of your musical influences? Will you be planning to tour?
When I was younger, I loved to listen to Eminem. I liked how his songs told a story, mostly about his life. Yes, touring is in our plan, possibly as soon as next year after we finish shooting season 4!
What are some of your favorite playlist additions right now?
I really like the oldies now. Artists like Frankie Valli, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even Dean Martin. If I had to name a modern pop artist, it would have to be The Weeknd.
Henry Danger was a great addition to Nickelodeon’s summer lineup. What are some of your favorite series to binge-watch lately?
Arrow, Stranger Things and Gotham are my favorites. I am all caught up on them – now I am waiting for the next seasons to start up again!
Congratulations on Henry Danger getting picked up for a third season! What can you tease about what fans can expect from the new and upcoming episodes?
Well, if you saw the finale to the second season, (spoiler alert) Jasper now gets to work with Captain Man and Kid Danger. He is now able to cause more trouble for the team. There is more crime fighting, criminals, chaos and fun. This is the best season yet!
You just recently wrapped filming the holiday movie Christmas All Over Again. Can you talk a little about your character Eddie and what viewers can expect from the movie?
My character Eddie is a real jerk and only cares about things and swag since his mom died. So, with the help of a magic shopkeeper (Joey Lawrence), he learns the true meaning of Christmas doesn’t always come wrapped up in a bow. He must relive his Christmas Day without presents until he learns to mend his ways.
You were working alongside Joey Lawrence, Christy Carlson Romano, and Amber Frank. How was that experience for you? We’re huge fans of them as well – it must have been a fun time on set!
It was such an awesome experience to work with Joey and Christy, both Disney actors. I use to watch Kim Possible with my sister when I was younger, and found out Christy [did her voice]. Amber is also extremely talented and we bonded during our snowball fights, as well as [over] both being Nickelodeon kids.
Do you enjoy interacting with your fans on social media? What can they expect from you next?
Yes! I love to “talk” with my fans whenever I can or get a chance to. Without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am at. They are great and make me feel good about my acting and singing, and are always encouraging me to continue to follow my passion and dreams. Hoping to have my next album finished and out by next summer. [I’m working on] something special I am hoping the fans will enjoy but can’t talk about just yet – stay tuned!
