Lauren Taylor stars in the new Disney Channel original series ‘Best Friends Whenever’ alongside Landry Bender. The new time travel sitcom is set to premiere following the highly anticipated Disney Channel Original Movie “Teen Beach 2” on June 26th.
We had the chance to chat with Lauren about her inspirations, what to expect from the new series, and what her fans can expect from his music career.
Read on for our exclusive interview with Lauren Taylor below:
To start off, can you talk a little about what initially inspired you to get into acting and entertainment?
Well, I did a lot of musical theater as a kid down in San Diego, where I grew up, and I always found interest in music and acting and theater and that’s how I spent most of my middle school. Two years ago my mom got a job in LA and I just figured “Why not try it?” and I did and loved it.
Is there anyone that has influenced or inspired you? Or anyone that you’d love to work with some day, if you could pick anyone?
That’s a good one. I’ve always really admired Leonardo Dicaprio. Every role he takes on he just does so well. I’ve never seen one bad Leonardo movie. He definitely inspires me.
Most recently, you have landed the lead role in the new Disney Channel series ‘Best Friends Whenever’. Can you talk a little about your character and what attracted you to the role?
Shelby, I love Shelby. I hope I’m like her. She’s just so sweet and wants the best for everyone around her and always means well. Sometimes she’s a little high strung but she’s very determined overall and a good person.
How does it feel to have joined the Disney Channel family? Is it safe to say you were a big Disney fan beforehand?
Absolutely. I grew up on That’s So Raven and Lizzie Mcguire and I feel like every kid has that dream of being on the Disney Channel. I never, ever thought that it would be me one day up there but dreams do come true, I guess!
What can the fans expect from this series? What are you most excited for them to see?
I think either the fun aspect and the relatability. A lot of Disney Channel shows aren’t really relatable right now. Time travel isn’t really relatable… but they’re like two normal teenage girls who have to deal with problems normal teenagers have but we have to time travel to fix them.
The series is premiering after ‘Teen Beach 2’ so it’s safe to say the exposure will be incredible. Are you excited for what’s the come? What are your hopes for the show and your career moving forward?
I’m very excited that it’s premiering after Teen Beach 2. I loved the first one. It’s got a great audience. I hope the show does well. I think we have some really great messages and lessons, even though time travel is involved, we have a very real aspect. I hope that kids can take away good things from it for sure.
What’s on the horizon for your music? Is that something you have plans to pursue?
Absolutely. I’m working on music right now. Hopefully, I’ll be releasing an album pretty soon here.
Being as active on social media as you are, how has the fan support been so far? Do you enjoy interacting with the fans?
Absolutely, we have some really great fans. A lot of people who support the show. I’m really excited about it. A lot of really great people. I’m really excited to see how it all turns out.
