Switched at Birth returned tonight with the Summer premiere of season 3! Let’s face it, the fans are waiting to see what’s next for the reunion between Bay and Emmett. However, this episode was so crazy, Bemmett wasn’t even close to being the biggest thing that happened.
Read on for our recap of Switched at Birth 3×12: “Love Among The Ruins“.
The episode begins and takes me completely by surprise when Bay confides to Daphne that she and Emmett had sex and didn’t use any protection. She has to get herself the Morning After pill. Come on, Bay. You’re smarter than that. You are not a teen drama cliche! Emmett does himself no favors in my book by assuming Bay is on the pill because he assumes she’s been hooking up with all her boyfriends. Emmett. You are on my list. Bay struggles with telling Tank the truth after he reveals he left his fraternity for her and her day is only getting worse. Her dad sees info on the Morning After pill on her computer.
Over in the other side of the house, Daphne is getting increasingly worried about Regina’s safety after the threatening brick came flying through her store. It doesn’t help that Regina is massively in denial about the severity of the situation. Determined to take matters into her own hands, as she always seems to be, Daphne and Bay decide to confront the guy responsible. This guy is named Nacho(?) and he is bad news bears. When Bay’s plan to flirt with them fails, Daphne demands they leave Regina alone because she quit her job. And they called Regina a whore! How dare they.
Things go from bad to worse when Regina gets her job back. Daphne is so worried about the situation that she goes to Angelo for help. First things first, she tells him it’s time he learned how to sign. Finally! Secondly, she wants him to move in with them. I look forward to this new family dynamic.
If you thought the Emmett Being Catfished deal was over with, you thought wrong. Melody is a smart woman and puts two and two together rather quickly. Before you know it, this episode is a cyber bullying PSA. When calling a truce with Matthew doesn’t work, Melody convinces Emmett to turn him in to the principal.
Matthew posts flyers of Emmett’s lovey text messages all over school and threatens him with what I assume is a NSFW picture that Emmett sent to “Mandy”. At the last minute, Emmett refuses to tell the principal the truth and Melody is pissed. She is so overcome with rage, she grabs Matthew in the hall and shoves him into a locker. YAS. YASSSS. Well, not so much YAS for Melody. She gets suspended.
How much do I have to worry about Regina? “Nothing is going to happen to me.” Famous last words, girl. Prayer circle for Regina!
What about you, Bemmett fans? Were you happy with Bay’s decisions? Will they learn to “figure it out”?
