IT. ALL. ENDS.
The episode kicks off with Lydia, Scott, and Isaac sitting in the police station in horror and disbelief. Scott flashes back to the instructions Mr. Argent was telling him to say to the police about the death of Allison. Mr. Argent tells him to say that two masked men tried to steal their car and that Allison was stabbed. Inside the police station, Parrish continues questioning the kids and it’s clear that Isaac can’t cope.
At the Yukimura house, Mr. and Mrs. Yukimura are trying their best to help Kira and Stiles through the situation at hand, and discuss how Allison was able to kill an Oni, and if it was even possible. Kira seems to be determined to believe that Allison has figured out something they haven’t. In the meantime, Mr. Yukimura says that Stiles needs and out of the box move, or a divine move to turn the tables on the Nogitsune’s game. She also reveals that it was the power of the Nemeton that held the Nogitsune trapped the first time. Lydia, Scott, and Deaton determine that the wooden box Thalia Hale’s claws are kept in is made from the Nemeton and can also trap the Nogitsune.
Meanwhile, at Derek’s loft, the twins want to get Lydia and Danny out of town with them because of the Nogitsune’s control over the Oni. Allison’s death has rightfully made them fear for their lives and the lives of the people they care about. But Derek insists that they have to stay and fight. For themselves and for their friends. At the Argent house, Isaac and Mr. Argent share a moment and an embrace over the loss of Allison.
The Nogitsune has no intention of keeping his attack quiet or secret. He sends Oni to the police station and accompanies the Oni to the hospital while they kill begin to kill everyone in their way without a second thought. At the hospital, the Nogitsune is looking for Melissa, who’s injured and trapped in the elevator with Agent McCall, and at the police station Parrish, the Sheriff, and any other surviving police officer is fighting for their lives.
At the Argent household, Isaac puts together that Allison wanted Scott to tell her father about the arrowhead she used to kill the Oni. He and Isaac head to the basement to try and find it. The four arrowheads that were still setting when Allison left are the ones they can use to kill the Oni. Silver is a poison to them, which is why Mr. Argent was able to injure one on his first mission so long ago. Meanwhile, Derek agrees to meet Scott and Lydia with the box made from the Nemeton.
The Oni suddenly vanish from the police station and the hospital leaving the Sheriff, Parrish, and Melissa all injured with their poison. At the hospital before she passes out, Melissa makes Agent McCall promise to try and work it out with Scott. He promises to make it right with both of them, but Melissa continues to worsen. At the station, Sheriff Stilinski and Parrish aren’t doing any better.
Scoot, Stiles, Lydia, and Kira rush to the school to meet Derek for the Nemeton box, but when they open the school doors they are in the same garden as the one Mr. Argent first saw the Nogitsune in on his first mission. The Nogitsune says he will make Stiles follow the a samurai tradition of disemboweling himself and then being killed by his captain. He say if Stiles doesn’t perform the act and then allow Scott to kill him all his friends that have been cut by an Oni blade will die. It is at this point, that Deaton is also attacked and cut by an Oni blade as well. Scott and Kira begin to fight the Oni trying to buy time until Derek arrives. But Derek and the twins are stuck outside fighting their own Oni, unable to get the box inside the school to the others.
Isaac and Mr. Agent appear to help. Isaac grabs the Nemeton box to take to the others, while Mr. Argent begins eliminating the Oni with the silver arrows. They are finally winning, but Aiden is killed while taking out the last Oni. He dies next to his brother, afraid that Lydia will never believe that he was a good guy. Derek promises that she’ll believe it. Inside the school, Stiles is about to give into the Nogitsune’s wishes when he realizes that the garden they are in is simply an illusion. He informs the others and they are able to walk back out of the doors and into the hallway. Furious, the Nogitsune screams at Stiles and Lydia that they have no moves, no divine plan that is strong enough to beat him because he is thousands of years old and cannot be killed. They reveal that they do not have to kill him. They simply have to change the body of the host. At that, Scott bites him and Kira follows up with a stab through the chest. As the fly exits the false body of Stiles, Isaac captures it inside the Nemeton box. The fake body of Stiles turns into dust, and the real Stiles passes out. Meanwhile, the Sheriff, Parrish, Melissa, and Deaton all are better again as the Nogitsune’s poison has gone with him.
When Stiles comes to, at first there is relief that everyone is alright and that he is alive. But then it sinks in that not everyone came out of this one. They lost Allison. They lost Isaac. They lost a lot. Back at school, Malia has enrolled and is now a student. She and Lydia share a smile as she goes by. Scott also begins teaching Malia how to transform back and forth.
The episode ends with Derek asking Stiles how to tell if he is dreaming. Stiles says he’ll have extra fingers. When Derek checks, there are extra fingers revealing that the conversation he’s having with Stiles isn’t actually happening. But that means that the dream he came to Stiles about was NOT a dream. And in that dream, Kate Argent is still alive. And she isn’t human anymore.
OH.EM.GEE. Once again Teen Wolf goes out with a bang. Emotions were all over the place with this one, but the shocking revelation of Aunt Kate being alive had to be the biggest shock of all. Can’t wait to see what they’ve got cooking up for next season, because this one was un-freaking-believable.
