Pretty Little Liars 4×23 – Unbridled – Recap

This episode was kind of a snooze. I can only hope that next week contains the answers the viewers have been promised. That should mean one action packed episode.

The episode starts off with what ABC Family has been teasing all week. Spencer is running alone in the dark woods, in a wedding dress, following someone, until she hears a slice. The scene ends and cuts to 48 hours earlier.

Big news. Jason is back! And he’s still beautiful, in case you were wondering. He’s trying to distance himself from the girls because he’s helping his mother and, let’s face it, it’s no secret she hates Spencer. But Jason is hiding something. That rehab center he’s apparently been in all this time closed down years ago. Where has he been? Doing “A” duties? Protecting Alison?

And speaking of. Is Alison’s mom really A? Apparently, back in the day, she thought Spencer was A. Alison had admitted someone was anonymously bullying her. Spencer is still worrying that she may have killed whoever is in Alison’s grave. Her mom tells her of an “incident” that is really a whole bunch of nothing and I sat here for a good 5 minutes trying to figure out why it matters. In the flashback, Spencer’s mom is picking up teddy bears and clothes after Spencer and Melissa had a fight and Spencer is standing by Alison’s house in the dark. So??

I really wish Spencer had an evil twin but I highly doubt her mom wouldn’t remember pushing that out of her…

So about that body. Detective Holbrook alerts Mrs. Dilaurentis that he will be exhuming the body to do additional testing. Will we finally find out who is in there? Mrs. D bought Alison..or someone..clothes recently. What is she up to? Why is she putting on bridal shows in the midst of all this turmoil and drama?

Hanna’s mom is helping to run the show and Aria’s mom is back in town to announce she’s engaged. Aria vents her frustrations out at Ella but she has this hair in her mouth the whole time and it’s really distracting. Finally, Spencer’s mom discovers Dean asleep on the couch with Spencer and fires him on the spot. That’s a shame. He’s so attractive. And why the hell is Toby is London?

Spencer catches Mrs. Dilaurentis giving someone a suitcase in the woods and decides now, while in a wedding dress, is a good time to chase after that. She gets her veil caught in a bear trap and literally nothing else happens. That was a whole lot of hype for nothing. The one interesting thing is that someone put FINGER BONES in Spencer’s dress along with this message:

“What will you do when the rest of me comes out of the grave?”

Emily uses some detective work of her own to break into one of those mysterious email addresses and sends Alison a message. Ali immediately calls the girls and tells them to come to her when Emily informs her she’s in danger. After promptly dumping Paige’s ass, the girls travel to Ali’s location. When walking into an abandoned (restaurant?), someone walks in behind them.

Spencer: “What are you doing here??”

And the episode ends.
