We ended last week’s episode with Cole texting Brandon pretending to be Callie and saying they were over. It didn’t seem like things would end well with that. Hopefully we will find out Cole’s motives this week.
Continue reading for our full recap of The Fosters: “Family Day“. We start off this episode with Jesus announcing he is working out and changing his eating habits a bit so that he can be at his top game for wrestling. Marianna is still suspended and worrying about the play and of course her new crush Chase. Lena and Stef tell Jude that he still wants to adopt him whether or not Callie decides to be adopted. I am sure this probably puts Jude in a tough spot but hopefully he does what is best for him.
Daphne is able to move into her new apartment as part of the independent living program. Of course Callie finds a phone and attempts to use it before Rita catches her. She really isn’t very good at the whole sneaky thing.
Things start to heat up between Jesus and Emma. When Lexi sends him a selfie of herself he responds but accidentally sends them to Emma. Jude gets really frustrated when Jesus continually locks him out of their room for some “Jesus time”
Meanwhile while Lena is at the doctor she decides to talk about the possibility of getting pregnant. She takes some blood tests while there to see if this is still an option. I think it’s awesome she wants to get pregnant but I don’t think it will end well with her not telling Stef right off the bat. Stef’s dad tries to give them a new car as a gift but Stef will not take it because he did not attend their wedding.
Family day finally arrives and the whole gang including Brandon come to see Callie. You can tell Jude is still upset with Callie about everything that happened. All of the girls debate whether Brandon or Jesus is hotter. I think that scene was really awesome to see the girls interacting about something other than their issues in group. Jesus is skipping lunch. Not sure if this is going to become a bad habit of not eating or not. Jude tells Callie he is going to be adopted with or without her. Rita questions Steph and Lena about bringing Brandon, and then tells them that Callie applied for the independent living program. They seem crushed. I feel so bad for them. Brandon confronts Callie about the text messages and she realizes Cole didn’t throw the phone away.
Callie catches Cole using drugs of some sort and confronts him about texting Brandon. We then find out the drugs he has been using are hormones. We learn a little bit of Cole’s history, which is actually quite sad. His parents kicked him out when they found out he wanted to be a boy. I can’t even imagine what he has gone through with his family not accepting him and then not being able to take the hormones he needs without buying them off the streets himself. Cole apologizes to Callie for texting Brandon. I can’t wait to learn more about all of the girls. I can tell they all have interesting stories.
Brandon sneaks away to Daphne’s apartment to see Callie. The girls let her have 15 minutes alone with him. He sings her a cute little love song but I still think they are being incredibly stupid.
Cole is being taken to the hospital when the girls arrive home from the apartment. He had a seizure which is a side effect of the hormones and hit his head and went unconscious. All of the girls blame Callie because she was supposed to be his accountability partner since they are room mates. They all get upset at her for not truly being in the program. They told her if she isn’t taking it seriously to go home to her family who cares for her. They are all right, she doesn’t take it serious and she doesn’t open up or let anyone else in. After a conversation with Rita and Cole, Callie turns her phone in. I am hoping this is the first step to her completing this program 100% and not half way.
Lena finds out her levels are good to get pregnant. Stef finds her dad dead at his house when she goes to talk to him.
Will Callie finish the program and return home? Does Lena end up becoming pregnant? What will happen with Jesus, love triangle? Next week’s preview looks intense so we will have to wait and see.
