In a rage, Captain Holt sends Jake home for his misconduct, but Santiago ends up spilling the beans about what really happened: Jake convinced Brogan to revoke the quotes, but the punch was out of defense for Captain Holt’s honor. Brogan retaliates by giving Jake the “hair bag” write up in his expose. “Jimmy Brogan wouldn’t know a legit cop if one punched him in the face,” Captain Holt says appreciatively to Jake.
In the meantime, Diaz is expected to testify in an important assault case, but she has a horrible track record of ruining credibility on the stand with her trademark scowl and threatening behavior. Jeffords and Doyle force Diaz into a crash course on courtroom behavior, giving her as polite a makeover as they can manage without Diaz threatening to murder them.
In the courtroom, a dressed-down Diaz loses her cool against her nemesis, the antagonistic defense attorney, but Doyle urges her to go to her happy place (his consists of a never-ending strand of linguine covered in different sauces). Taking his advice, Diaz nails her testimony, only to later reveal that her happy place is beating the crap out of the defense attorney in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, where “[I] reach down his throat and shake his hand.”
