American horror Story: Asylum promo photo
With 17 Emmy Nominations, American Horror Story became in a way the most awaited show of the next season. FX’s horror show will be back in October for a 3rd season with, as usual, a complete new story. After a haunted house and an asylum, the show will focus on a Coven and apparently witchcraft. The filming is set to start tomorrow in New Orleans for a premiere on October 6.
A few spoilers had been leaked recently and here is a little “catch-up” about what we already know.
Jessica Lange will be back as Gwen but the producers are also looking for a younger version of this character which means flashback. It’s the same for Ruth, a character played by….Frances Conroy. The newcomer Emma Roberts (who is still on the show despite what happened between her and Evan Peters) will be Madison, a “young and sexy Hollywood-actress type” girl who loves to party.
We also know a little about some characters but nothing about the actor playing them:
Carter: Carter is in his 20’s and described as a “small town hunk.”
Dr. David Zhong: A doctor who has been doing research on a youth serum called RM-47.
Hank: A handsome blue-collar worker in his 30s who is the husband of one of “the witchy women.”
Maude: A wealthy and demanding widow whose late husband helped fund research for a mysterious serum called RM-47.
Theodore: A 60-year-old man “often subject to nagging.”
And there’ll be also a male college student “who’s a jerk” (no name had been released yet).
About the cast, Jessica Lange and Frances Conroy will be joined by former AHS cast including Taissa Farmiga (season 1), Evan Peters (Season 1 &2), Lily Rabe (season 1 & 2) and Sarah Paulson (season 1 and 2). Unfortunately, James Cromwell & Zachary Quinto, who are both nominated for an Emmy as best supporting actor, may not join the cast.
For the newcomers, the list includes Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone, Gabourey Sidibe and of course the talented Kathy Bates.
Early this morning, the nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother?) who will also host the ceremony this year.
The big leaders of those nominations are American Horror Story with 17 nominations, followed by Game of Thrones 16 noms while Netflix’s House of Cards became the first online series to be nominated. Homeland, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family are unsurprisingly still competing in several categories.
Below, the list of the nominees for the main categories for TV & movies:
